Mindfulness Workshops

Mindfulness is a method which can be used in daily life to bring a greater sense of equilibrium and inner strength regardless of the pressures we are up against or the challenges we face. The specific practice of mindfulness based stress reduction (MBSR), developed by Dr. Jon Kabat- Zinn, has been shown in numerous clinical studies to improve stress-related physical symptoms, reduce psychological distress, and enhance emotional well-being.

In these experiential workshops, we learn about:

- Stress and the toll it takes
- Why positive thinking often doesn’t work
- Benefits of diaphragmatic breathing
- Methods for ‘defusing’ unhelpful thoughts (worry, anxiety, self-doubt, etc)
- How to clear mental/emotional blocks and move forward
- Mindfulness ‘mini’ meditation

The benefits of the mindfulness method taught in these workshops include:

- Ability to remain present rather than churning over the past or worrying about the future
- Understanding of how to respond to stressful events with calm alertness
- Improved ability to concentrate
- Deeper self-awareness, and the quieting of the inner critic
- Baseline state of improved mental and physical health

Mindfulness workshops are run on a regular basis in central Rome and southern Tuscany. The Foundation Workshop provides basic principles and practices in mindfulness, and follow-on workshops develop specific mindfulness skills including: Clarification of Personal Values, Mindfulness for Cravings and Addictions, Stress Reduction and Mindfulness in the Workplace.
